Grain-Free Sweet Potato Treats

More and more dogs today are on grain free diets. Some for health reasons or allergies, and others just because their owners/Veterinarians feel it’s healthier.

Today I am sharing a grain-free dog treat recipe using sweet potatoes. Sweet potatoes are super nutritious, tasty, and actually have a great consistency for use in making treats.

• 1 1/2 cups almond meal

• 1/2 cup coconut flour

• 2 tsp poultry seasoning

• 1 cup sweet potato, cooked and mashed (about 1 large potato)

• 1/4-1/2 cup water

• unrefined extra virgin coconut oil to grease pan

• preheat oven to 300

• combine almond meal, coconut flour and poultry seasoning

• add sweet potato and 1/4 cup of water

• mix until well-combined (until you have dough)

• if mixture is too thick to roll out, add in more water (should be thick and dry but not crumbly)

• roll out dough to a 1/4 inch thickness

• use cookie cutters to cut out desired shapes and place cookies on greased tray

• bake for 25 minutes (oven times may vary)

• turn oven off and let cookies cool in closed oven

• remove from oven and let cool completely on tray for at least 1 hour

• store in airtight containers
