Today I would to feature one of the dog rescue organizations that help fuel my lifes purpose.
With permission from Heidi Walker, founder and president of Yorkie911 Rescue, Inc, I would like to share some information with you so that you can see what I see, a wonderful organization!
Founded in July 2010, Yorkie911 Rescue, Inc is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. This rescue is comprised of dedicated volunteers who are passionate about rescuing, vetting, and re-homing Yorkshire Terriers and other small breeds.
Their mission: “Our mission is to rescue and ultimately find the perfect adoptive home for the Yorkshire Terriers and other small breed dogs in our care. We are also committed to raising awareness throughout our community about the Yorkie and other small breeds.”
Heidi Walker, entered the world of rescue as a volunteer herself. While volunteering for a rescue in PA she built up a foster network in Long Island NY.
After learning in the Spring of 2010 that the PA rescue was no longer going to have fosters or adoptions in NY, Heidi decided to form her own rescue. Yorkie911 Rescue was incorporated in July of 2010 and shortly after receiving 501 (c) (3) status. Since then Yorkie911 has expanded its base of volunteers and foster homes and continues to grow and thrive.
All rescued dogs are fully vetted, given medical attention if needed, groomed, and spayed/neutered. A dedicated group of volunteers assists in the adoption process by screening applications, and visiting homes to ensure all dogs find caring families.
Heidi’s home has become and remains a revolving door for many foster dogs, and so has mine! Thanks to her wonderful work many dogs who would otherwise not be given a chance have the opportunity to spend the rest of their days in loving arms.
It has been my pleasure to be a Yorkie911 Rescue volunteer. I foster, transport, and help with home visits when they call upon me for help. I have often been know to foster fail. I guess you could say adoption is my addiction!
Yorkie911 like all rescues fundraises to help save lives. If you are interested in helping and you are unable to transport or foster like I do, there are many other ways to get involved and or contribute. Come help save lives with me!
