Tito Update

Yesterday Tito went in for multiple surgical procedures; he was neutered and an exploratory dental was performed. He is now back at Paws Give Me Purpose resting and recovering.

Tito’s neuter thankfully went well, and his blood work looks good for a pup his age with no concerns. His dental procedure however, was not so simple. As it turns out this fragile neglected little boy has some major issues going on in his mouth – it’s no wonder he would paw at his mouth and had such a difficult time eating.

A total of 17 teeth needed to be extracted; they are extremely rotted, infecting his gums, and are surely a cause of pain for him for far too long.

Due to the amount of time needed to perform this procedure, the safety factor of being under anesthesia for too long, 7 teeth were extracted yesterday, and the other 10 will have to be removed in about another 2-3 months.

Tito’s body temperature dropped a bit too low during yesterday’s procedure and the Veterinary team wanted to be sure that he was not in any danger so in this case, less was the best decision for our boy.

We can tell you that Tito is not happy with any of us right now, and has expressed his feeling by growling at us, but he is resting comfortably and we are pampering him with what he will allow at this time. We truly feel his pain and understand his displeasure with us.

While Tito’s history is a mystery due to being found as a stray, his condition reveals that until his arrival at Paws Give Me Purpose, his life was surely a difficult one. It is obvious that he has never known a human touch, kindness, or what real love is and it’s time we changed that!

Please continue to send healing prayers Tito’s way. With you by our side, we can give Tito, and many more unwanted souls, a fighting chance to have the opportunity to live out their lives to the fullest.

This is what we do here at Paws Give Me Purpose.

Prayers For Tito

Only 2 months into 2021 and it has taken a serious emotional and financial toll on our Sanctuary, but ultimately this is the nature of the work we do. Although we struggle, just looking at the faces of the dogs that call Paws Give Me Purpose Sanctuary home, makes it all worth it.

We come to you today asking for prayers for Tito. Tomorrow, Tito will be neutered and undergo an exploratory dental to try to figure out exactly what is going on in his mouth and receive the necessary treatment and care to help him feel better.

Due to the nature of Tito’s behavioral issues, we originally had his surgery scheduled for mid-March in order to give him more time to decompress and begin to trust us humans, however, he has begun having some difficulty while eating and is pawing at the upper jaw of his mouth often. Our Veterinary team has decided to move up his surgery date and he will head in early tomorrow morning.

At this time, Tito is not a cooperative doggie patient and it is safest for all involved to examine, draw blood, perform the necessary dental and neuter at one time. Thankfully, Tito has begun to come around to his caretaker here at the Sanctuary and she will be going with him for this appointment.

To say we are on edge would be an understatement, but we firmly believe that relieving Tito’s discomfort will help with his behavior going forward. Dogs cannot tell us when they are in pain or aren’t feeling well other than to act out – and Tito most definitely is asking for our help.

In turn, we are asking for your help. Our Vet bills at both our emergency Vet and regular Vet are sky high and on top of that Tito needs our urgent help too.

We ask that you please dig deep down in your hearts for prayers, and those that are able their wallets – no amount is too small. Help give us the ability to continue our work and give all these precious unwanted souls their best lives unconditionally.

Without your support, special needs dogs like Tito would have nowhere to go. Your donations saved his life and so many others. We thank you all for giving us the ability to do what we do.

One Special Boy

Grief is the last act of love we have to give to those we love; where there is deep grief, there was great love – our hearts are shattered.

It is with great sadness that we inform all of you that we have helped handsome Victor cross the Rainbow Bridge late last night. He had suffered a sudden syncope and went into severe respiratory distress which he was unable to recover from.

This was a very difficult decision to make, but was a selfless act of love. Victor passed peacefully in the arms of his Sanctuary mommy in a room full of love with dignity.

Victor was a very special boy who stole the hearts of everyone he met and even of those who only knew him through our social media. He had a very special light in his eyes, a clear will to live and enjoy his golden years to the fullest. He was truly one of the sweetest, most gentle souls we have ever encountered and we will never be able to understand why anyone could have ever tossed him away.

His favorite thing to do was follow his Sanctuary mommy around and no matter what he did not want to be separated from her for even a second. Victor simply loved being loved and cuddled. His favorite foods were sweet potatoes, honey goat cheese, and a delicious bully stick to chew in his bed every night before he went to sleep.

We had hoped once the weather got nicer to help Victor learn to use his set of wheels for the first time, but sadly it was not meant to be.

To say we are heartbroken would be an under-statement. Nothing will ever be the same here at Paws Give Me Purpose without Victor, as each dog that comes through our door brings us something special. There is a huge cloud of sadness over the Sanctuary as Victor’s close human and doggie friends are mourning his loss.

You will always live on in our hearts Victor; you were taken way too soon. We were blessed to have known and been able to love you with our whole hearts!

We would like to acknowledge Victor’s generous lifetime sponsor, Jacqueline, for assisting us with his lifetime care and helping give us the ability to provide him with everything he needed. On behalf of Victor, we thank you from the bottom of his little heart and ours. It is supporters like you that are the driving force behind what we do.

Thank you to all of our followers and supporters for caring and for being a support to us during this difficult time.
