Halloween Mummy Treats

Your dog will gobble up these Halloween Mummy Treats so quickly you won’t believe your eyes.

Ingredients:

Cookie: 

  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 3/4 cup canned pumpkin
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cup whole wheat flour or Bob’s Red Mill Grain-Free/Gluten-Free Baking Mix
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

Filling:

  • 1/2 cup canned pumpkin
  • 1 egg yolk

Decorating: (optional)

  • K9 Cakery Icing
  • food writing pen

Instructions:

  • preheat oven to 350
  • beat eggs, then mix in oil and pumpkin
  • stir in cheddar cheese
  • add flour and baking powder, mix until well combined forming dough
  • set aside 1/3 of the dough
  • roll out remaining dough on a lightly floured surface to about 3/16″ thickness
  • in a separate bowl, stir pumpkin and egg yolk together
  • spread a thin, even layer, on top of the dough
  • roll out the remaining 1/3 of dough
  • use a pizza cutter or sharp knife to slice dough into thin strips
  • layer strips on your base dough, pressing  gently into the pumpkin filling
  • using a round cookie cutter, cut cookies into circles
  • place on cookie sheet and bake for 17-20 minutes, or until golden brown
  • remove cookies from oven and allow to cool

Decorate: (optional)

  • mix icing to a thick consistency that still flows well enough to pipe
  • place icing in a piping bag with and pipe two round dots onto each cookie
  • allow icing to dry, then draw on the pupil with the food writers pen
