Meet Alexis

This past weekend we welcomed Alexis into Sanctuary. Found in an alley with no collar, leash or owner in sight. Her body was filthy and her hair was matted. Her poor mouth is infected; her breath rancid because her mouth is rotting. Her arthritis pain is visible in every slow step she takes. In addition, this precious girl is suffering from diarrhea, alopecia, and intermittent head bobbing/mild tremors.

Yet, Alexis wags her tail. She greets everyone both 2 legged and 4 legged with such joy and has shown us how very much she wants this second chance to live.

Who left her like this? How could they walk away? We most certainly couldn’t, because her life matters! This is agony, this is suffering, and this is exactly why PGMP Sanctuary exists.

Here at Paws Give Me Purpose, we don’t give up easily. We never shy away from difficult cases like Alexis. We say yes when others feel they are too far gone – but we cannot continue to do this without you!

100% of all donations goes toward the care of special souls who have nowhere else to turn.

Please help us show Alexis that even now, in the twilight of her life, she matters. This sweet girl has been through hell, THIS is her new beginning.

Welcome Sylvester

At 15 years of age, sweet Sylvester found himself stray, and then behind shelter walls. Alone, terrified, and severely emaciated he waited for those he thought loved him, but no one ever came.

His fragile body tells a story of long-term neglect and hardship; he has no teeth left, an infected testicle, and he is blind. Since his history is a mystery, we have no way of knowing how long he has struggled to eat or how long he has endured pain with no relief.

Sylvester requires bloodwork to check for what his little body has endured and to see our Cardiologist for his heart. He has been in quarantine since his arrival for a horrible upper respiratory infection, is on antibiotics, and we have begun a very strict feeding schedule to help him slowly gain some much needed pounds. He has a tough road ahead of him, and there are no guarantees, but his life matters and we will do everything in our power to help him so that he can enjoy his remaining golden years to the fullest.

Sylvester is now safe, will never go without care, and every moment from this one forward will be filled with nothing but kindness and dignity.

Please help us give Sylvester the care he should have received all along. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help change Sylvester’s life.

These Are The Moments

There are moments in Sanctuary when you doubt what you do, simply because others don’t believe these lives matter.

There are moments in Sanctuary when you feel like closing your doors due to the lack of public support and understanding about what it is you do. Sometimes, we personally go without so a dog can have a second chance at life, no matter how long or short that life may be.

The work we do here at Paws Give Me Purpose Sanctuary can at times be very difficult and emotionally daunting; but just when we feel like giving up, we see a small moment like this, that brings tears to our eyes and smiles to our faces. A single moment that makes everything we go through here worth it.

These are the moments that make PGMP a special place.
