Welcome Sprite

Sprite was abandoned on the streets by humans who promised to love her forever and found herself waiting behind shelter walls for a second chance at life.

Sprite has neurological issues; a head tilt, is ataxic caused by damage to the cerebellum of her brain and does some circling. She is very thin with a body score of 2/9, has marked dental disease as well as a misalignment of her mandible. Additionally, she has a cardiac murmur grade 2/6.

Paws Give Me Purpose takes in a never-ending stream of sad, hopeful, and fearful faces that look to us to make it all better. Our goal is to provide respect and dignity to all beings, no matter their age, appearance or health status – Sprite’s life matters! Special needs dogs should not be defined by their circumstances, and Sprite is not aware that she may be different from other animals of her kind.

Sprite and all of her Sanctuary friends need people with extra-big hearts to help us give them their second chance at life and becoming a Guardian Angel to our Sanctuary helps make it possible for us to provide them all with what they need and deserve.

Our mission at PGMP is to provide a bridge of care that supports senior, hospice and special needs dogs so they can live their lives to the fullest.

A major part of what we do is provide ongoing medical support and treatment for the dogs in our care. We work closely with our Veterinary team to maintain a good quality of life for our Sanctuary residents for as long as they are with us.

Without our wonderful supporters, none of this life-saving work would be possible. Without your continued support, we are unable to continue our mission. YOU are all a major part of the work we do, and are the driving force behind us!

Please consider making a donation to help us with Sprites care, or become a Guardian Angel to our Sanctuary. As a Sanctuary Guardian Angel, your donation will help provide annual care to all of our Sanctuary residents.

As a Guardian Angel you will help make a difference in the lives of the dogs we cherish.

On behalf of Sprite and all the dogs here at Paws Give Me Purpose, thank you for thinking of us and making our lives better.

Meet Odie

This is the face of a dog whose heart-wrenching plea moved us to tears. We moved heaven and earth to take him under our wing. This is the face of a dog who we scrambled to save.

We have named him Odie (shelter name Sir) and he is now safe here at Paws Give Me Purpose Sanctuary.

Over 14 years of age, Odie found himself behind shelter walls when those who promised to love him forever decided forever had an expiration date. That expiration date almost cost Odie his life.

Odie has some serious medical issues that need to be addressed, and a visit to the cardiologist is at the top of the list. Every day, we’re faced with choices. When we choose kindness, when we choose compassion, we make the world a better place, one life at a time and it is Odie’s time to enjoy his remaining golden years to the fullest.

Sadly, donations have come to a halt, and we rely primarily on fundraising to help dogs in need. With the difficult medical cases that have recently walked through our doors, and continue to come in, your support is critical more than ever!

With you by our side, precious souls like Odie receive everything they need to be comfortable and happy for however long they are with us. YOU help us provide everything they need to make their last days, their best days.

Please make a life-saving gift today, become a Guardian Angel to our Sanctuary or sponsor one of the precious souls that call PGMP Sanctuary home.

Meet Leslie

In a perfect world, every dog would be living their best lives daily where their biggest concern would be choosing the comfiest place to nap, or lap to snuggle in. The heartbreaking fact is that’s not the case, and our hearts hurt every day seeing senior, special needs and hospice dogs disposed of like they mean nothing. It seems very few people want them or even believe their lives matter.

Pictured here is Leslie (shelter name Lily), many may not recognize her now. She arrived at our Sanctuary a couple of weeks ago with a very serious upper respiratory infection, has received urgent and much needed medical care, a really good groom and scrubbing after her release from quarantine.

While we have little to no information about what kind of life Leslie had prior to her arrival at our Sanctuary, we do know that at 14 years of age, her love and devotion to her humans was repaid with a death sentence.

She was surrendered to the Philly ACCT, her hair was dirty, extremely matted, overgrown nails and covered in mammary masses. She is in end stage periodontal disease and has some unusual issues with her legs including some unusual swellings which will all be addressed by our Veterinarian.

Our goal is to make Leslie’s life happy, comfortable and love her beyond measure so she can live out her remaining golden years to the fullest. Just imagine what we all could do collectively by trying daily to make someone else’s life a little better.

We all have the ability to make others feel valuable whether it is a senior dog like Leslie or a person. No one should feel unwanted, worthless or alone, especially seniors. Our society clearly and desperately needs change, we need to do better, after all we are all aging; it’s something we cannot control – it’s part of life.

We are asking for your help to show Leslie and all the dogs that call Paws Give Me Purpose home just how much their lives really matter, and ensure we can always keep our doors open to others in need.

Please open your hearts and make your most generous gift, sponsor a Sanctuary resident, or become a Sanctuary Guardian Angel. Without your support, our valuable life-saving work cannot continue.
