Featured Dog Friday

Staffies have a hard time of it, but their bad reputation is of no fault of their own. Often they are left in shelters for long periods of time because owners mistakenly believe they are not suitable pets. However, Staffies are naturally loving, loyal dogs who are eager to please their owners. Unfortunately, the breed has been adopted as the dog of choice for those seeking a status symbol — an accessory, a fear tactic, even a weapon substitute. Owners like this have assisted in the development in these gentle dog’s reputation.

Say hello to this adorable boy, Biscuit! Since Biscuit is a black dog and a Staffie breed, he fits into a category of dogs who are more difficult to adopt. He is another beautiful senior soul sitting in a shelter far too long. Biscuit was surrendered by his owner to the Cove Animal Rescue because he did not get along with the other dog in the residence. It has been almost a year and there is no hope in sight, I am completely heartbroken for this boy and pray a REAL forever family steps up and gives him a loving home soon.

Biscuit is approximately 9 years young which is so hard to believe because he looks and acts so much younger. He loves going for walks, jogging, and knows his basic commands; this boy is extremely easy to walk on the leash, he doesn’t pull you forward or weave in and out, but happily trots by your side. He also loves playing with toys, but has so far been overlooked by potential adopters as they often are not able to look past his breed, coat color, and age.

Biscuit does not get along well with other dogs so he needs to be your one and only, but with him by your side you’ll need no other! He is an inherently sweet dog that needs a savvy, responsible, experienced owner and a household with kids 12 and up would be best.

I spoke with a volunteer from the shelter who told me, “Biscuit LOVES people and going for walks and that he is the biggest wiggle butt in the world!” She mentioned that he is truly a GENTLE GIANT as he must weigh around 65 pounds. He gets so excited when he sees the people he loves; he will just wiggle his butt in excitement, but he doesn’t jump on you.”

So here I am once again asking for your help to get Biscuits name and face out into the dog loving community. If we get people to just stop and look at him and go to meet him, they’ll realize he’s just a big softie! Staffies like Biscuit have wonderful personalities, they will talk to you, they want to be with you, they want cuddles – they are very much people dogs. Biscuit deserves to find a forever home where he’ll be loved and spoiled for the rest of his golden years.

Biscuit is an energetic boy who is looking for nothing more than a warm place to call home and a loving family to call his own. In return, he will give you more love and loyalty than you can imagine.

Please help me share and network this handsome boy. Let’s get Biscuit noticed! Let’s get him out of the shelter and into a home so he can feel love from a REAL true family. He really deserves a chance, won’t you please help me help him by finding his special someone?
