For Paco and others like him, the residents here at Paws Give Me Purpose Sanctuary take time to learn that not all humans are unkind, and what it’s truly like to be loved.
Our Sanctuary residents all require medical care, emotional support or behavior training (some may even need all three) This is when they need you the most.

People continue to ask us the same question, “why rescue?” – why put yourselves through the emotional roller coaster of working with abused, neglected and unwanted animals? That can only cause heartache.
Why don’t we just turn a blind eye? Helping a dog and seeing them blossom into a silly, loyal, wonderful companion, or just simply enjoying life here in Sanctuary is one of the most rewarding parts of canine rescue to us. The best feeling in the world is when that dog that spent 2 weeks in a corner afraid of people gets to the point of putting her head in your lap as if to say “thank you for saving me, I love you”.

Abigail is a Chihuahua.
Abigail was purchased from a breeder as a Christmas gift by a parent for her young child.
Abigail was thrown across the room and smashed on the floor like a toy.
Abigail was surrendered to rescue 2 days later.
Abigail was badly injured.
Abigail needed extensive surgery to repair her broken bones.
Abigail was hospitalized.
Abigail arrived at Paws Give Me Purpose and received much-needed TLC.
Abigail was frightened.
Abigail did not trust people.
