Welcome Casper

Today, Paws Give Me Purpose welcomed our newest resident, Casper to our Sanctuary.

Casper is a 15-year-old Pekingese/Maltese mix who has just lost the only family he has ever known. He was surrendered to the shelter by a family who promised to love him forever.

Casper suffers from some serious medical issues, and Casper is also completely deaf. These reasons along with his advanced age labeled him unadoptable.

Casper was on the verge of losing his life simply because he was labeled unadoptable and we just could not ignore the urgent plea for help. We only hope we are in time to give this sweet boy the life he deserves.

While we clearly have no idea what Casper’s life was like prior to his arrival at the shelter, we do know that we need your help to make things better for him!

Casper deserves the chance to live his life to the fullest – he deserves this second chance to be happy, loved and cherished. We ask that you please consider making a donation to help us with Casper’s care. If anyone is interested in becoming Casper’s sponsor, please reach out to us directly.

Remembering Francesca

There was just something about Francesca that made your heart melt, and there is not a dry eye here in our Sanctuary.

It is a very somber morning here at Paws Give Me Purpose as we had to help our beautiful Francesca cross over the Rainbow Bridge last night. It was not something we expected and it never gets easier, but her quality of life quickly deteriorated over the last couple of days. This is one of those gut wrenching decisions that we sometimes have to make, but also a loving kindness that Francesca deserved.

Francesca arrived at our Sanctuary back in June of 2020, at that time she was in pretty rough shape. With the help of our Veterinary team she bounced back to life and had a fabulous time here – she even celebrated her Sweet 16 here, we threw her a big bash and she loved every minute of it.

We’d like to think that her last year and half of joy here with us was able to wash away her past suffering. She was spoiled, and loved deeply just as she should have been.

She would light up the room with simply being there, savoring everything – food, treats, toys and loved being pampered. Her most favorite, cupcakes; and the joy on her face when she ate one was just something special. She wasn’t fond of having her nails trimmed, but she tolerated it.

She left this world just shy of her 17th Birthday, and she is greatly missed by both the humans and dogs alike. Several of the male pups here were literally in love with her, and just simply wanted to be near her – in the same room with her, following her wherever she went. Most of all, little Candy, is missing Francesca who looked after her as if she were her own puppy.

There are just so many memories and so many happy stories we could tell… there was just something about Francesca. She left this world with dignity knowing love and kindness.

You will always live on in our hearts Francesca; you were taken way too soon. We were blessed to have known and been able to love you with our whole hearts!

Thank you to all of our followers and supporters for caring and for being a support to us during this difficult time.

We Are Paws Give Me Purpose

We are not a big rescue, but we try our hardest to do big things for the dogs that no one else stepped up to help during their time of need.

We give the abused, neglected and the most unwanted souls a life — a chance to be loved, cherished and to learn that not all humans are unkind – to us this is big!

Rescue is difficult, and providing Sanctuary is even more difficult. It can be the most heartbreaking, gut wrenching thing you will ever do.

It is putting your feelings aside to help a dog in need. It is getting a call about a dog that we don’t have room to save.

It is realizing that no matter how hard we try, we can’t save them all.

It is doubting what you do – because of the 14-16 hour day you have ahead and endless sleepless nights.

It is waking up so tired you can hardly move. It is realizing you have muscles that hurt when you didn’t know they could.

It is seeing the pain and suffering in a dog’s eyes. It is loving a dog with your whole entire being even though we have just met.

It is sitting for days on end trying to gain a dog’s trust. It is seeing endless abuse and neglect every single day. It is seeing a lost yet beautiful soul.

It is seeing the ugliest parts of the human race – leaving you with so many questions you wish you had the answers to.

It is holding on to a dog’s body so tight as they pass away in your arms and your heart shatters leaving you feeling so defeated.

It is when you don’t think you can take another loss and you don’t have any more tears to cry. It is thinking you aren’t strong enough and realizing you are.

It takes a toll on you mentally, physically, emotionally. It will sometimes break you and at the same time can make you strong as nails.

We are Paws Give Me Purpose Inc. Sanctuary, and YOU are a big part of our team.

Thank you for giving us the ability to do what we do!
