Welcome Sweetie

There is just something ethereal about the beauty of a senior dog; the wisdom in their eyes, the confidence in their glance, and the tender unassuming way they love – but to many these lives no longer seem to matter. Love should not have an expiration date!

Meet Sweetie, at 12+ years of age, this precious senior found herself wandering the streets because someone decided she no longer had value. She suffers from mammary masses, severe dental disease, a heart murmur and skin issues, with nails curled into her tiny paw pads.

She sat behind shelter walls alone and scared, wondering why she was there and when her family was coming to take her home. The stress was hard on her frail body and mind. When the shelter reached out to us for help, we immediately said yes because we have faith in our fabulous supporters and know you will be there to help us help Sweetie.

Little Sweetie hopes for life, for love, and someone to make everything alright, and with you by our side we will make that happen.

We have dedicated our lives to those that no one else will save, but we cannot continue to do this without YOU!

If you have ever loved a dog, if you believe that these gentle, brave senior’s lives matter, donate, share, do whatever you can to send them love.

Meet Mickey

Part of a cruelty case, this tiny boy spent a very long time waiting behind shelter walls for his freedom ride. The DA’s office has finally released him into our care, and it’s way past time this precious soul began healing.

Meet Mickey! His frail body and broken spirit tell a story of long term neglect and abuse. Blind, with overgrown nails, toothless, alopecia with leather-like skin, a grade 3 heart murmur, muscle wasting and he’s diabetic.

Mickey is now safe at PGMP Sanctuary, will never go without care, and every moment from this one forward will be filled with nothing but kindness and dignity.

If you’d like to help us begin Mickey’s much-needed vet care, you’re support makes all the difference.

Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help change Mickey’s life.

Welcome home, Mickey. Your hardest days are behind you, and your best ones are just beginning!

Just A Few Hours

When you receive an urgent request for help from one of your shelter partners late at night, you just know the situation is going to be bad.

A super senior, well over the age of 15, found lying in the street was brought into the shelter. He was blind, deaf, severely underweight, had severe dental disease and his back leg was ripped open to the point that his muscle was exposed.

Regardless of his condition, no dog should die alone in a shelter kennel – he deserved love, kindness and dignity and we hope those few hours with us were a lifetime of love for him.

We named him Augie and took him directly to the emergency vet. We immediately began pain management and then exams began so we could identify the cause of his conditions and how we could best help him. As it turned out, the only responsible course of treatment was helping him cross over.

At Paws Give Me Purpose we put quality of life above all else and it was clear to our Vet Team that there was no bouncing back from the serious level of neglect Augie had endured.

This is one of those gut wrenching decisions that we sometimes have to make, but also a loving kindness that Augie deserved. He was only with us for a few hours, but we loved him beyond measure, and held him tight as he peacefully gained his Angel wings.

Life is truly fragile, a reminder that no matter how old or frail, Augie deserved to know warmth, comfort, and unconditional love. We are so grateful to our PGMP Team member Shelley for being there with Augie for every minute, holding him, loving him and for giving him the most precious gift of all—a peaceful and loving end to his journey.

Augie, we are so sorry you were abandoned in this condition and we were too late to help you. We hope you know that even though your time with us was very short, you were very loved.

We hope that you all remember, just because we can’t save them all, doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try.
