Newest Sanctuary Resident

Today is a very busy day at Paws Give Me Purpose; beside the usual schedule and many loads of dog laundry, we are preparing for the arrival of our newest Sanctuary resident.

Rescued from Baltimore City Animal Control, meet Francesca! This little girl almost lost her life because the shelter was simply out of space. Thanks to the quick thinking of Yorkie 911 Rescue she has been pulled to safety and arrangements have been made for arrival to Sanctuary tomorrow.

Francesca is estimated to be 15 years old, has ear infections, cataracts, conjunctivitis in one eye, and serious dental issues. Additionally, she has some trouble walking on her back legs – we are not sure yet if it is age related or if she has sustained an injury.

Francesca is currently receiving ear drops and eye drops to help with the infections, but will need to see our Vet as soon as possible to assess all of her medical issues so she can live the best most comfortable life here in Sanctuary during her final years.

Our promise to Francesca as is to all the beautiful souls we bring in to Sanctuary is to provide a safe and loving environment for the rest of their lives.

This is what we do here at Paws Give Me Purpose Inc. But, we cannot do this without all of you!

Please consider making a life-saving donation today; no amount is too small.

Calvin Update

Calvin saw the Cardiologist on Thursday and underwent an echo-cardiogram. Although the shelter documentation had noted his heart murmur was a grade 5-6, the examination and test results from yesterday do not match that assessment.

The good news is that the heart murmur is really more like a stage 4, and not a 5-6, and Calvin’s beautiful heart is not enlarged so there will be no need for medication at this time.

Even though they are healthy, we are going to start both Calvin and Hobbes on some senior supplements to help keep them healthy as they enjoy being loved and spoiled the rest of their lives!

We want to thank each and every one of you for the outpouring of love, thoughts and prayers for Calvin. We can’t begin to tell you how relieved we are to hear such wonderful news, and look forward to sharing many happy updates about Calvin and his wonderful new life here in our Sanctuary.

Prayers For Calvin

Calvin is a long haired Chihuahua, almost 21 years old and we have been told he has a grade 5-6 heart murmur. He is not neutered, has no teeth and no bottom jaw at all, has bilateral nuclear sclerosis (hazy, cloudy eyes), was covered in fleas, had overgrown nails, and has urine stained fur. It is heartbreaking to realize that somewhere in the world, there are dogs like Calvin who are neglected and are left to live in misery, without people to love them.

Once again we are asking for all our staff, volunteers, followers, and supporters to help us pray for Calvin. Tomorrow, Calvin will be seeing a cardiologist and will undergo an echo-cardiogram to determine the actual severity of his heart problem. He will receive the expert medical care he needs and deserves.

After living many years of criminal neglect and deprivation for so long, Calvin is learning what it is truly like to be loved. Despite his life of cruelty Calvin is extremely loving, sweet, and enjoys attention.

We brought Calvin and his brother Hobbes to Paws Give Me Purpose Sanctuary because no one else stepped up to help them during their time of need. Sadly, dogs their age and condition have little opportunities, but we believe they deserve a second chance to have the life they should have had all along.

Our promise to these beautiful souls is to provide a safe and loving environment for the rest of of their lives.

This is what we do here at Paws Give Me Purpose Inc.
