We have literal knots in our stomach this morning…

Please keep Socks in your thoughts and prayers as he heads in to a difficult surgery to remove the mass on his thigh.

We are at a loss for words when it comes to describing our feelings over this situation – he should not have had to suffer this way.

When we dropped him off, we couldn’t help but get emotional; this is never an easy decision, but we know in our hearts it’s his best chance.

Socks is one of the sweetest boys we have ever met and we only hope that we are not too late to give him the second chance he deserves.

Hello all, we just wanted to pop in and give you all a quick update on Brownie.

There is good news and bad news; the good news is her heart, valves and arteries look good – there is no damage.

And although she does have a distinct heart murmur and a cough, she is not in heart failure.

Now for the not so good news…Brownie was high heart-worm positive when found and it seems that some adult worms were resistant to the heart-worm treatment she already received and this is the cause of her ongoing medical issues.

No one knows how long this beautiful girl was out living on the streets, or how long she has been struggling with heart-worm disease. But what we do know is she suffered unnecessarily and although we cannot erase her past suffering, we are going to make sure she enjoys her remaining years to the fullest.

The Cardiologist and Veterinary team both recommend retreating, and we will take things one step at a time in order to make sure Brownie has the best outcome with the lowest risk.

This tiny senior has come so far since first being found on streets of Texas, and if we do not treat these leftover adult worms, Brownie will just get sicker and we most certainly do not want that to happen.

For now she has begun a 30-day, twice a day treatment of Doxycycline in order to weaken the worms. Once the 30 days is complete, she will receive her first heart-worm injection.

We ask that you continue to send all the positive vibes and prayers you can Brownie’s way as we embark on this journey to help her together.

Today we are asking for all our staff, volunteers, followers, and supporters to send positive vibes and prayers as Brownie is on her way to an echo-cardiogram.

At her last Vet visit, a murmur and some crackling were detected. After having lived a life of neglect, being thrown out on to the street to fend for herself and being high heart-worm positive when she was found, we need to determine the actual severity of her heart problem.

With all of you by our side, Brownie will receive the expert medical care she needs and deserves in order to live her remaining golden years to the fullest.
