His fragile body tells a story of long-term neglect and hardship; we have no way of knowing how long he has struggled or how long he has endured pain with no relief. Starved, a walking skeleton, organs in failure, matted hair, brought into the shelter after being found stray. There was little to no hope for survival sitting in a kennel so when our shelter partner reached out for help it was an immediate yes and off to the emergency vet he went.

Some said precious Benji was too far gone, that he should be euthanized right away. Our Vet Team gave him a full exam and was prepared for that outcome if needed, but Benji had other plans. He rallied, and showed us just how very much he wants to fight to live – his life matters and he is now out of the hospital and here at Paws Give Me Purpose Sanctuary where his 24/7 care will continue.

His blood work looked scary, but we are hopeful for this soft soul to bounce back so he can enjoy his senior years to the fullest. While Benji may have a long road of recovery ahead of him, the worst days of his life, being starved, unseen and uncared for, are behind him.

Benji will never go without care again! He has been made comfortable, on a strict feeding schedule, receives daily fluids, is taking his medications and supplements like a champ and is slowly but surely gaining some weight. He has even had his very first dog meet/play group and really enjoyed himself.

Every moment from this one forward will be filled with nothing but kindness and dignity for Benji.

Pictured here is precious Mochi, one of our newest Sanctuary residents. A human first mistreated her, then believed it was acceptable to throw her away like a piece of garbage. It’s just unfathomable the unnecessary cruelty that people can commit and then walk away. 

When our shelter partner reached out for help, we were in shock listening to the story of this innocent soul who was so badly hurt. It is simply beyond our comprehension, but the heartbreaking reality is the level of abuse she endured has left her with not only emotional scars, but brain damage as well. 

Mochi is now safe here at Paws Give Me Purpose because her life matters! To the heartless people or persons who did this and dumped her, we can only hope karma exists and justice is served.

We believe that every dog, regardless of their past, age, or medical conditions, deserves a second chance. While each has a different story to tell they all have a heart full of love to give – most especially the super seniors. 

Meet Polly, this tiny fragile girl can literally fit in your pocket! At a mere 4 pounds, this precious girl’s story is beyond heartbreaking. With deformed legs, making it difficult to walk, she was left on the streets to fend for herself. Her tiny feet were burned from being left outside on the hot summer sidewalk, infested with fleas, her hair filthy and matted with feces. In addition, she has several mammary masses, conjunctivitis, severe dental disease, and a high grade heart murmur – all clear evidence of long term neglect and a life of hardship. 

When our shelter partner reached out we just knew we had to take her under our wing. At PGMP we believe love should not have an expiration date, but it’s clear someone felt differently. 

Polly’s life matters and she is now safe here with us at Paws Give Me Purpose Sanctuary. She has of course been cleaned up and made comfortable, she will be loved beyond measure and will receive only the very best medical care that she needs and deserves. Every moment from this one forward will be filled with nothing but kindness and dignity.
