Here at Paws Give Me Purpose, we believe that all dogs deserve a second chance at life, and watching Mr. Freckles at almost 17 years of age play with his Teddy Bear makes everything we do here worth it.

No matter how long they are with us, every dog that walks through our doors is treated with excellent care, compassion and love. We are making sure that Charlie is truly enjoying his golden years to the fullest and is spoiled as he should be.

This is what we do here at Paws Give Me Purpose.

For the first time since his arrival, King got up today all on his own, and began to explore his new environment. Until today, we had been very concerned because all he has done since his arrival to sanctuary is sleep.

He also finally ate some very soft chunks of chicken and had a much needed bath. The smell, level of filth and matted hair was just unbelievably heartbreaking. 

King really seemed to enjoy the warm lavender bubble bath, but due to the severe matted hair close to his skin, he will most likely still need to be shaved down. For now, he is enjoying a nap all wrapped up in a nice warm blanket. 

King deserve a chance at life, to know love, to know kindness, and to see that not all humans are unkind before leaving this earth. No matter his age, or special needs, he is a living breathing animal just like us and he has value.

Our promise to King is to provide a safe and loving environment for the rest of his life.

This is King. 

He arrived at Paws Give Me Purpose Sanctuary about an hour ago.

Our team is on the verge of tears, his medical and emotional condition are simply beyond our comprehension; how could any human be so cruel?! King is very sad, defeated and has given up on life. 

Due to the horrible mistreatment and neglect, this tiny 14-year-old has suffered, we sadly know that his time with us will be short – but we knew we could not allow him to die alone in the shelter. 

And before the inappropriate messages start coming our way we will simply state that King deserves love, dignity and respect, and we are going to make sure he receives everything he needs for as long as he is with us.
