Love Is All She Needs

Believe it or not, dogs are one of the most misunderstood animals in the world. A lot of humans tolerate their dogs’ bad behaviors, but a very large percentage do not and they get rid of the dog when they absolutely could have corrected those bad behaviors if the humans themselves changed their ways.

For this Baby Shark, Paws Give Me Purpose was her last chance for love after being failed by humans her entire life, including being surrendered to a shelter where her already troubling behavior escalated out of fear.

When a senior, special needs, hospice case, or difficult to adopt dog is brought into a shelter, we are the one they call. When a rescue finds that one of the dogs they thought was adoptable needs a special place to spend the rest of their lives, we are the one they call.

We are that special place where Cocoa can take all the time she needs to heal mentally, physically and spiritually – and that is what she is doing right now. She is decompressing, observing, and slowly learning to trust. This is what she needs right now and nothing more.

Through your faith in us and your generous contributions, we have been able to save the lives of many very special dogs like Cocoa who almost didn’t get a second chance.

Paws Give Me Purpose is her home and we guarantee she will never be failed by another human again! Our promise to this Baby Shark is to provide a safe and loving environment for the rest of her life. We know this is no easy feat, but we will always keep our promise.

This is what we do here at Paws Give Me Purpose.

Welcome Teddy

As our rescuing continues, Paws Give Me Purpose welcomes our newest resident, adorable Teddy to Sanctuary.

Teddy is a 13-year-old boy who has just lost the only family he has ever known. He was surrendered to the shelter in the most horrible medical condition, and we just could not turn down the urgent plea for help. We just hope we were in time to give this sweetheart the golden years he deserves.

Teddy was picked up by one of our volunteers and taken immediately to the Veterinarian. He has a very serious heart condition, a diseased mouth with very few teeth, a horrid cough, as well as kidney issues. His hair is extremely matted, his spine extremely crooked and his nails were literal circles they were so overgrown.

Teddy’s medical neglect is just beyond our comprehension, and please don’t message us and tell us it’s because people can’t afford care, there was obviously never any care. To us, allowing any animal to suffer their entire life this way is inexcusable!

Immediate supportive care has begun; medications have been started and they have already begun helping Teddy feel more comfortable. He will continue to receive the expert care he needs and deserves for as long as he is with us.

Teddy is not in any physical pain, but it is evident he has been seriously neglected for a long time, and it goes without saying that we will do whatever is necessary to help Teddy feel his best and be the happiest and most comfortable he can be.

Teddy is the sweetest little boy; he has already given kisses of gratitude, and shown us how he likes to run zoomies around the room. Although Teddy is considered a hospice case to most, to us he is another beautiful special needs senior soul who did not deserve to die in a shelter.

After giving 13 years of love, loyalty and devotion to his humans, Teddy deserves to be loved and treated with dignity, and not to be tossed away like yesterday’s newspaper – he has feelings just like you and me.

We ask that you please help us with Teddy’s supportive care by making a donation today!

How Is Waldo?

For Waldo, Paws Give Me Purpose was his only chance; we were his last hope to be loved and cherished as he should have been his entire life. Waldo has some great and some not so great moments, but that doesn’t matter to us. Learning to cope as a tripawd was truly the least of our worries.

As you can see, Waldo looks a bit spaced out from his current medications, but yesterday’s final surgeries were a success, and our Veterinary team says he did very well. All the necessary surgeries due to complications from being hit by a car are now complete, and it is now time for some much needed recuperation and rehabilitation.

We are that special place where Waldo can take all the time he needs to heal mentally, physically and spiritually. With all of you by our side, we will make sure he continues to receive the expert medical care he needs and deserves. We will also make sure he knows how very special he is and how glad we are to have him here in our Sanctuary.

With your support, special needs dogs like Waldo have someplace to go. Your donations saved his life and so many others. We thank you all for giving us the ability to do what we do.

If anyone is interested in sponsoring Waldo or any of our other Sanctuary residents’ lifetime care, please reach out to us directly.
