Talulah Update

Beautiful Talulah Belle, or “LuLu” is stopping in to say hello to all of our wonderful followers and supporters today.

Since her arrival at Paws Give Me Purpose, Lulu has been keeping mostly to herself, and that’s ok. She is using this time to decompress, observe and acclimate to the new people in her life, environment, and schedule.

Overall, she is very sweet but timid, and we are hoping when she is ready, she will become a little bit more social – but that is completely up to her, on her terms, when she feels ready.

Lulu is very thin but has a good appetite and has begun to enjoy home-cooked, soft meals we serve all of our seniors. We are hoping her hearty appetite helps her to put on some much needed weight.

She really enjoys warm, fresh blankets and bedding that come out of the dryer daily to cuddle up in, and waits for us to tuck her in at night.

Our promise to Lulu is to provide her with a safe and loving environment for the rest of her life and we are committed to keeping this promise!

Welcome Honey

Owner surrenders are truly some of the most heartbroken dogs we see in the shelters, and what makes it even more heartbreaking is when that dog is a senior with a multitude of medical issues due to neglect.

People don’t seem to understand or accept the reality for the surrendered pet, and what it does to them, but we at Paws Give Me Purpose see and feel their pain first hand on a daily basis and it is simply beyond heartbreaking.

This weekend we welcomed the lovely Honey into Sanctuary. Surrendered to the shelter by those she thought would love her forever at the age of 14. She arrived at the shelter with extremely overgrown nails and was encrusted in feces. She is missing most of her teeth and the ones remaining are extremely diseased. Additionally, Honey has a grade 5 heart murmur, a corneal ulcer, and arthritis.

Poor Honey presents a myriad of medical issues, and our goal here at Paws Give Me Purpose Inc. for her is to help her live the best, most comfortable life in her final years. Our promise to Honey as is to all the beautiful souls we bring into our Sanctuary is to provide a safe and loving environment for the rest of their lives.

But, we cannot do this without all of you! Please consider making a donation today; no amount is too small.

Welcome Talulah Belle

Today we welcomed some extra special visitors from the Town of North Hempstead Animal Shelter. We were very happy to welcome Genna and Liz, bringing with them our newest Sanctuary resident –Talulah Belle, or Lulu for short.

Many of our Sanctuary residents really enjoyed today’s visit and spending time with these two fabulous ladies who clearly love dogs as much as we do!

Please help us welcome beautiful Lulu! She is 14 years old, and was sadly surrendered to the shelter when her mommy passed away and there was no one else able to care for her.

This beautiful senior is very sweet, but a bit skittish and dealing with a multitude of medical issues. First and foremost she is frail, most definitely needs to put on a little weight and we will do our best to make everything better for her.

It goes without saying that Paws Give Me Purpose will do whatever is necessary to help Lulu heal physically, and emotionally. Our promise to Lulu is to provide her with a safe and loving environment for the rest of her life and we are committed to keeping this promise – she is already loved by all!

We would like to express our gratitude to The Shelter Connection for sponsoring Lulu’s medical care.

Stay tuned for Lulu’s complete bio coming soon.
