This Moment

Sanctuary can be defined as a place of peace, refuge or safety. A place where people or animals can live and be protected. This is what we do here at Paws Give Me Purpose; we treat every dog that comes through our doors with excellent care, compassion and love.

There is nothing in the world like watching a dog blossom here at Paws Give Me Purpose Sanctuary, they finally get to enjoy life. You can see them finally let go and feel free for perhaps the first time in their lives.

Pictured here is our precious Finn. From an uncertain future when he was diagnosed with anal adenocarcinoma, to a captured moment like this. This alone is the reason we do what we do here at PGMP. The simple enjoyment on his face makes every moment matter even more than we thought possible.

Our promise to Finn is to provide a safe and loving environment for the rest of his life. We are making sure that Finn is truly enjoying his golden years to the fullest and is spoiled as he should be.

This is what we do here at Paws Give Me Purpose.

Just Three Weeks

1,814,400 seconds, 30,240 minutes, 504 hours, while that equals just 3 weeks to all of us, for her it was a lifetime of love.

Unconditional love, only the very best medical care, warm beds with fresh from the dryer blankets daily, homemade meals, dog friends, human laps and loving arms to embrace her; she deserved it all and so much more we only wish she would have had more time.

We named her Dutchess, there was something very regal about her appearance. We never had the chance to share her story or post an official welcome due to the priority of care for residents.

She had given sixteen years of love and loyalty, and it was repaid to her with a death sentence. For 16 years she gave unconditional love, she was someone’s baby, had a home, a bed, a family.

She found herself alone, confused, and waiting for the end in an overcrowded and noisy shelter. She could not understand why she was there. She was fragile, she would shake in fear, her tired eyes looking for something familiar. Her soul had lost all hope; that’s when the shelter reached out to us for help.

Dutchess was blind, her once fluffy white coat was matted in feces, her thin frail body covered in scabs and soars. Her beautiful dark eyes pleaded for help and we did just that.

She was the sweetest soul ever and she deserved so much better than what she received most especially during the time in her life when she needed them the most.

Death is part of life, and that’s something we can not change, but we do have a choice for these sentient beings and how they die. No dog no matter their age, appearance, or health status should die alone in a shelter.

Dutchess left this world peacefully in her sleep with dignity, knowing kindness and with someone beside her that was not afraid to give her everything she needed even though it breaks our hearts in the process.

Sometimes, Paws Give Me Purpose is that special place where dogs come to cross that bridge with dignity and love…

This is what we do here at Paws Give Me Purpose.

Meet Cooper

This week’s Wishlist Wednesday is brought to you by one of our newest residents, Cooper.

Cooper’s fragile appearance tells us yet another sad story of neglect; so many of his teeth are falling out, and he requires an immediate visit to the cardiologist. In addition to his medical issues, he is utterly heartbroken about losing the only family he has ever known.

Please consider making a donation to help us with Cooper’s care or shopping our wish lists to donate food, enrichment, and more to our Sanctuary residents; every one of these precious souls that walks through our doors deserves this second chance for life, love, dignity and respect.

This week’s items most in need  are: Tide Hygienic laundry pods, Lysol laundry sanitizer, Wuffes Advanced hip/joint support, PetSilver Immune Support, and Hill’s Science Diet Sensitive Stomach & Skin, Small & Mini Breeds Dry Food (Chicken Recipe)

We would also like to extend our gratitude to all of our amazing supporters who generously sent much needed items over the past week: Several Anonymous Donors & Cheryl Bottone.

Without all of YOU, none of the life-saving work we do would be possible. YOU are the driving force behind us!
