We showed you their shelter photo, some of you already know they were a last minute save. What you don’t know is the truth, the heartbreaking story of how they ended up behind shelter walls, and the truth about their medical conditions.
Their owner had passed away, and these boys were left in the care of a family member who admittedly dumped them on the streets because “they weren’t dying fast enough”. We are enraged.
Both these dogs have clearly been starved, starved from both food and affection. They are emaciated beyond our comprehension; their nails severely overgrown. Yugi is 12+ years of age and is covered in numerous large masses that dangle from his skin. As if that’s not enough, he has double cherry eye, severe periodontal disease, muscle wasting, a grade 3 systolic heart murmur, and cranial organomegaly (the enlargement head/ skull area). Bandit at 18 years old, also has severe periodontal disease, systolic heart murmur, severe muscle wasting.
The level of neglect here is beyond heartbreaking and it is clear veterinary care was never provided. We have no way of knowing how long they have struggled or how long they have endured pain with no relief. It is way past time for them to receive the much needed medical and comfort care.
Bandit and Yugi are now safe and never go without care again. Every moment from this one forward will be filled with nothing but kindness and dignity.
These boys have a tough road ahead of them, and there are no guarantees, but their lives matter and we will do everything in our power to help them so they can enjoy their remaining golden years to the fullest.
Please help us give Bandit and Yugi the care they should have received all along. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help change their lives.
