Welcome Gertie

Things here at the Sanctuary have been very busy and we have been very short-handed. But, we did not want another day to go by without sharing our newest arrival with everyone.

Last week, we welcomed some extra special visitors from the Town of North Hempstead Animal Shelter. We were very happy to welcome Genna and Liz, bringing with them our newest Sanctuary resident – Gertrude, Gertie for short.

Gertie is estimated to be about 10 years old and unfortunately she has been diagnosed with Carcinoma; one of her Lymph Nodes has also been found reactive to this cancer as well.

The shelter reached out to us once her biopsy results came back seeking Sanctuary for her. She has been through so much, including 2 major surgeries and she needed us. We said yes to taking her under our care, we couldn’t let her down.

Our promise to Gertie is to provide her with a safe and loving environment for the rest of her life and we are committed to keeping this promise – she is already loved by all!

Sadly, the financial support for the work we do is just not there and the dogs already here in Sanctuary must come first. We need YOUR help to continue to give all of them including our newest resident Gertie what they need and deserve.

Please open your hearts, dig deep and make a donation – we cannot continue to do this without YOU!

Tater Tot Tuesday

It’s Tater Tot Tuesday here at the Sanctuary, and Tater is here to show off her best tongue out look.

Rescued from the NY ACC, this beautiful soul defies the odds every day. While her medical issues are serious, she is a happy, go-lucky girl and she does not let anything bother her. You’d never even know she isn’t 100% healthy.

Her advice to all of us it to take time to enjoy the wonder of each moment. Make it so beautiful that it will be worth remembering!

Tiny Tina Tuesday

We have designated today at the Sanctuary Tiny Tina Tuesday!

Senior dogs with special needs like Tina are often dumped by those who promised to love them forever on the street and in shelters. Because of you, Tina is alive today and will be loved and cared for the rest of her life.

At 20+ years of age, Tina deserved a comfy cozy place for her retirement, filled with nothing but love and happiness and with your support, we are making it happen!

For those not familiar with Tina’s arrival to our sanctuary please head over to:

Tina is a real sweetheart of a dog, and seems to really know she’s been given a second chance – she readily shows her gratitude. She wants nothing more than to be loved, and she returns affection many times over.

.This is what we do here at Paws Give Me Purpose.
