Soul Crushing Loss

We have some extremely devastating news to share – our beautiful Lily has gained her Angel wings.

Without any sign or warning, Lily collapsed, had a seizure, and left us way too soon. What makes this loss even more soul crushing is that Lily was not even ready for us to love her.

Since she was found as a stray and taken to the NYC ACC, her history was a mystery, but we can tell you she was afraid and allowed very limited human contact; we can only imagine the horror she must have endured in her life which caused her to be so fearful of humans.

Our team is extremely heartbroken; we were all looking forward to getting to know Lily and watch her flourish and shine with the other senior pups here in Sanctuary. It is extremely difficult when we only have a short time with them, this type of loss hurts us so deeply.

Lily, we are so sorry you were abandoned in this condition and we were too late to help you. We hope you know that even though your time with us was short, you were very loved.

Thank you so much to all those who believed Lily’s life mattered, for donating for caring and for being a support to us during this time.

“Just because you can’t save them all, does not mean you should not try.”

Welcome Peanut

This past Saturday, the Paws Give Me Purpose team officially welcomed a very special little boy all the way from a shelter in South Carolina to our Sanctuary.

Meet Peanut! His story is sadly all too familiar, but nonetheless heartbreaking. Tossed out on to the streets he sat alone and forgotten behind shelter walls wondering what he did wrong to end up behind bars and why his family never came looking for him.

On top of being abandoned by those he believed loved him, he is a senior dog with serious medical issues who was deemed unadoptable and the original rescue who committed to pulling him backed out at the last minute putting his life in jeopardy. We simply could not say no to the urgent plea – his life matters!

Estimated to be 10+ years of age, little Peanut is blind, deaf, has severe dental disease, luxating patellas, and a heart murmur which is sadly likely because he is heartworm positive.

Mistreating and neglecting your dog to this point and then tossing them out on the street like trash is completely unacceptable!

Peanut needs our help, and we cannot do this without you!

PLEASE make a donation to help us give Peanut the best chance to survive and enjoy his remaining golden years to the fullest.

Welcome Lily

In a perfect world, every senior dog would be living their best lives daily where their biggest concern would be choosing the comfiest place to nap or lap to snuggle in. The heartbreaking fact is that’s not the case, and many senior dogs find themselves abandoned simply because they’ve grown old.

Estimated to be around 13-15 years of age, this precious girl was found wandering the streets of New York in horrible condition and brought to the NYC ACC – no one ever came looking for her and we received a gut wrenching plea from Remember Me Rescue NY to provide Sanctuary.

We have named this beautiful girl Lily, and she is now safe here with us at Paws Give Me Purpose Sanctuary.

Lily has limited vision, severe periodontal disease, mammary masses, and osteoarthritis of the rear hips. Her fear is palpable, she trembles at the sight of a human.

Our promise to Lily is to give her all the time she needs to learn that not all humans are unkind, and that no one will ever hurt her again. She deserves this second chance to be loved and cherished as she should have been her entire life.

This girl needs us, together we can give her a miracle!

Paws Give Me Purpose relies on donations from people like you who are willing to spend their hard-earned money to help animals in dire need like Lily.

Please consider donating to help with Lily’s care, and please consider becoming a Sponsor or Sanctuary Guardian Angel – we cannot continue to do this without you!
