In Memory Of Pepper

This weekend unfortunately became a very sad one here at Paws Give Me Purpose Sanctuary as our beautiful little Pepper gained her Angel wings.

She passed peacefully, in her sleep, knowing nothing but love, compassion, and kindness in her final days. We knew Pepper’s time with us was going to be short when we rescued her, but her life mattered, she deserved dignity and most of all to leave this earth knowing that not all humans are unkind.

We kept our promise to Pepper; loved her, spoiled her, and kept her comfortable during her brief time here with us. She enjoyed bath time, loved sitting in laps to receive affection, and even though she only had 2 tiny teeth remaining, she loved to suck on gullet sticks. She had a fabulous appetite and never left a crumb behind.

Our hearts are broken here once again, and mere words cannot take away the anger and hurt we felt when we first laid eyes on Peppers shelter intake photo. She was a pure innocent soul who deserved so much better than what life had handed her – neglect, cruelty, abuse – just these words alone are difficult to wrap our heads around.

No matter how many times we take in a hospice case like this, our hearts shatter. We know this is the right thing to do; no dog deserves to be treated like trash by the family they gave all their love and loyalty to for over 17 years – Pepper’s life mattered!

Although her zest for life and will to live was amazing, her little body clearly could no longer keep up. We can only hope that her brief stay here in Sanctuary helped to heal her painful past, and that the memories she made here are the ones she took with her.

You will always live on in our hearts Pepper, you were taken far too soon; we truly wish our love and care could have healed you and given you more time like you deserved. We were blessed to have known you!

Thank you to each and every one of you for kindness, prayers and donations toward Pepper’s supportive care. We truly could not do any of this without you.

Precious Hearts To Hug

How do we celebrate Valentine’s Day here at Paws Give Me Purpose? We welcome 2 more precious hearts to hug!

This morning we welcomed a very special pair of bonded seniors, Mica and Pebbles, to Sanctuary.

Mica is estimated to be around 12 years old, and his sister Pebbles around 10. They sadly found themselves surrendered to a shelter and in need of immediate rescue.

They are now safe here with us and we are forever grateful to Remember Me Rescue NY for realizing they deserved this second chance at life and pulling them to safety.

Both Mica and Pebbles will be seeing our Veterinary team in a few days to address their medical needs, and we could really use your help to provide them with everything they need.

Please consider making a donation to help us with Mica and Pebbles care – we cannot do this without you!

If anyone is interested in signing up to become Mica and or Pebbles sponsor, please reach out to us directly.

Messy Hair Don’t Care

On this Motivation Monday, adorable Jewel is popping in to show off her messy/bad hair day and asks the question, “what is wrong with this look?” She happens to like it.

Jewel is a very independent free spirit; that’s what makes her special. She is not a fan of cuddling, not a fan of handling, not a fan of grooming, and hates sitting still – but we will still get the job done.

And even though she may put up a fight when it comes to doing what is necessary, she is grateful for this second chance at life, this second chance to be loved and for all of you who helped save her life.

Happy Monday! Jewel wishes all of you a wonderful day.
