Meet Leslie

In a perfect world, every dog would be living their best lives daily where their biggest concern would be choosing the comfiest place to nap, or lap to snuggle in. The heartbreaking fact is that’s not the case, and our hearts hurt every day seeing senior, special needs and hospice dogs disposed of like they mean nothing. It seems very few people want them or even believe their lives matter.

Pictured here is Leslie (shelter name Lily), many may not recognize her now. She arrived at our Sanctuary a couple of weeks ago with a very serious upper respiratory infection, has received urgent and much needed medical care, a really good groom and scrubbing after her release from quarantine.

While we have little to no information about what kind of life Leslie had prior to her arrival at our Sanctuary, we do know that at 14 years of age, her love and devotion to her humans was repaid with a death sentence.

She was surrendered to the Philly ACCT, her hair was dirty, extremely matted, overgrown nails and covered in mammary masses. She is in end stage periodontal disease and has some unusual issues with her legs including some unusual swellings which will all be addressed by our Veterinarian.

Our goal is to make Leslie’s life happy, comfortable and love her beyond measure so she can live out her remaining golden years to the fullest. Just imagine what we all could do collectively by trying daily to make someone else’s life a little better.

We all have the ability to make others feel valuable whether it is a senior dog like Leslie or a person. No one should feel unwanted, worthless or alone, especially seniors. Our society clearly and desperately needs change, we need to do better, after all we are all aging; it’s something we cannot control – it’s part of life.

We are asking for your help to show Leslie and all the dogs that call Paws Give Me Purpose home just how much their lives really matter, and ensure we can always keep our doors open to others in need.

Please open your hearts and make your most generous gift, sponsor a Sanctuary resident, or become a Sanctuary Guardian Angel. Without your support, our valuable life-saving work cannot continue.
