Wishlist Wednesday

Some days running a sanctuary are difficult. Sadly, it seems people are not being educated or informed about senior dog care. They aren’t given the tools or resources about what to prepare for or being educated about end of life, death and grief.

Our mailbox and voicemail are full, the requests for Sanctuary are non-stop. It truly is a heartbreaking reality and honor to know each and every dog that we can say yes to and walks through our doors. 

Every one of the dogs that now calls Paws Give Me Purpose home deserved so much better than to be discarded in their most desperate hours of need; that is when we as human beings should be the most dedicated. 

Today is Wishlist Wednesday, and with donations at an all time low these precious souls need you now more than ever!

Welcome Wonton

We live in a world where more often than not, bad seems to outshine the good. Here at Paws Give Me Purpose, we try to showcase the good qualities in the world, whether in two-legged or four-legged friends. We believe that everyone can learn something from these brave and noble souls that call Paws Give Me Purpose Sanctuary their home. 

We all bear a responsibility to infuse the world with kindness, compassion and love, but when all that has failed for these dogs it means an expiration date that is way too soon. 

Yesterday, a last minute save took place. We welcomed Wonton (formerly known as Honcho ACCT-A-256797) into Sanctuary. This precious boy has been neglected beyond belief. His smell alone was enough to make you want to vomit, and that’s just shows a small snapshot of his neglect. 

While his spirit is strong, his body tells us a story of long-term neglect and hardship. We have no way of knowing how long he has suffered or how long he has endured pain with no relief. Wonton has severe skin and eye infections, is suffering from extreme muscle wasting, is paralyzed, cryptorchid and cannot urinate on his own. How does any human being cause this level of neglect, look at themselves in a mirror and think this is love, think this is acceptable?

Regardless, this horrific chapter of his life is now over. Wonton deserves this second chance to be loved and cared for, and we will give him that chance. Wonton is already receiving only the very best medical care he needs and deserves; we won’t settle for anything less. 

Our promise is to provide him and all of our Sanctuary residents with a safe and loving environment for the rest of their lives. With your support we are making it happen!

The Work We Do

The work we do here at Paws Give Me Purpose Sanctuary is a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week, 365 day a year commitment. 

The reality is that most people have no idea what it takes to run a sanctuary until they’ve lived it themselves.

Nothing we do is for recognition. This is about showing up every single day for the animals who have no one else. We work hard here at PGMP Sanctuary to provide comfort, relieve any pain and give dignity and respect to precious souls in their remaining days. 

Being an animal lover isn’t just about loving animals, it’s about being willing to do what is best for them, even when it’s difficult. While death is a part of life, we do have a choice for these sentient beings and how they die. No dog no matter their age, appearance, or health status should die alone in a shelter. 

Some people view hospice as giving up or resigning to a fate. Hospice is not about giving up, it’s about focusing on comfort and giving them the best quality of life. 

This is what we do here at Paws Give Me Purpose not because it’s easy, but because so many others can’t. 

With the difficult medical cases that have recently walked through our doors, and continue to come in, your support is critical more than ever! We have outstanding vet bills that need to be paid, life saving medications, prescription diets, and supplements administered daily that are greatly needed.
