Meet Jewel

Meet our newest, tiny Sanctuary resident, Jewel. Sadly, Jewel has been diagnosed with cancer. Once we saw the urgent shelter plea, we could not say no. Could you? Just look at the soul-crushing sadness in her eyes.

Owner surrenders can be some of the most heartbroken dogs we have ever seen. The list of the excuses for surrendering is just too long to list. And while we try hard not to focus on bashing anyone, sometimes you just can’t believe what you are hearing and seeing. Written on the actual surrender forms, “our Veterinarian diagnosed our dog with cancer and we just don’t want to deal with it”.

Jewel is 10 years old and weighs a mere 5 pounds. She is very sweet but also very frightened – she has just lost the only home she has ever known in her life and we completely understand her loss and pain.

While she is not in any physical pain, she does have many tumors and we are waiting for her full blood panel results before considering any type of surgery – we want to give her the best chance to live out her senior years to the fullest.

Asking for money isn’t easy for anyone to do, but we need your help now more than ever! Please make a life-saving donation and help us help Jewel.

Ellie Update

Ellie is resting comfortably but has not been interested in much else – including food. It will take time for her to heal from all that she has been through – and our team is here for her every step of the way.

Please keep Ellie in your prayers.

We are not a big rescue, but we try our hardest to do big things for the dogs like Ellie that no one else stepped up to help during their time of need.

We give the abused, neglected and the most unwanted souls a life — a chance to be loved, cherished and to learn that not all humans are unkind – to us this is big!

Donations are still needed for Ellie’s care, so please help. #GivingTuesday will be here before you know it — just 2 weeks away, the day when millions of people around the world unite to support the causes they care most about and this year it takes place on November 30th.

Please mark your calendars and consider donating to Paws Give Me Purpose for our medical fund that will help Ellie and other dogs like her. Only with your help can we say yes to more senior/special needs dogs like Ellie.

Ellie Needs You

Tossed out like trash on the street, this little 10+ year old girl has been clearly neglected and mistreated – this tumor weighs at least a pound, and this tiny girl has had to suffer carrying it around for far too long.

Our hearts broke when we received the urgent plea, and we just could not say no.

We have named this sweetheart Ellie, and our volunteer has already picked her up from the shelter and taken her to the Vet. Surgery has been performed and thankfully, Ellie did well. We are hoping she recovers quickly – please send some positive vibes her way.

It may be too late, and it’s not at all enough, but in the end we know that we are doing right by Ellie. Her life matters!

Please consider making a donation today to help with Ellie’s lifetime care. If anyone is interested in becoming her sponsor, please reach out to us directly.
