Miss Peggy Update

Our beautiful Miss Peggy is popping in on this marvelous Monday to say hello and show off her fabulous self.

Special needs dogs like Peggy should not be defined by their circumstances. They are often not aware of how they may be different from other animals of their kind. Peggy may be blind, but she is first and foremost a dog.

Since her arrival to our Sanctuary, Peggy has received the urgent medical care that she needed. She has been started on heart medications for her failing heart, and is acclimating and navigating her way around without any issues. She has made many 2-legged and 4-legged friends who love her unconditionally. She is truly thriving and enjoying her second chance at life to the fullest.

We have no doubt that Peggy sees us, maybe more so, than a sighted dog. She may not see faces, but she can read your heart. Here at Paws Give Me Purpose, we feel inspired by the visually impaired dogs who call our Sanctuary home. They teach us to live life to the fullest, despite our challenges. Beautiful souls like Peggy show courage, strength, confidence, and faith in everything they do.

Thank you all for the outpouring of support so that we could step in and save Peggy’s life; thank you for giving us the ability to do what we do.

Welcome Chloe

She is 18, has arthritis, vision issues, a weak bladder and a heart murmur. She deserves so much better than what she experienced, discarded like yesterday’s garbage.

While getting old is certainly not easy, we are all heading in that direction, there’s no avoiding it. No matter her age or medical conditions, she is still beautiful, inside and out, and her life most certainly has value!

When the shelter reached out for help, we immediately took Chloe (shelter name Cleo) under our wing. Her tiny body has been carrying so much for so long. She deserves much needed care, kindness, compassion, love, and dignity.

We are doing our best to pick up the pieces of yet another shattered senior heart.

Life with hospice dogs can be exhausting, busy beyond belief, but inspiring nonetheless. We wouldn’t have it any other way, but we cannot continue to help Chloe or any others in need without YOU!

Welcome Peggy

Surrendered to the shelter after her owner passed away, Peggy (shelter name Penny) was extremely stressed and afraid.

She is blind, her nails overgrown, her hair matted in feces, her mouth ravaged by severe dental disease, suffers from an enlarged heart, and a thoracic mass. These conditions happen slowly, this is neglect, this is criminal. This small senior dog was left to endure more than she ever should.

Peggy arrived yesterday. She is uncomfortable and exhausted, but she is safe here at PGMP Sanctuary.

We were asked by the shelter to step in when the story was already heavy, when the bills are large, when the outcomes are uncertain, and when compassion is the only clear directive. Peggy needs immediate and ongoing medical care; this is not a quick fix, but it is a chance – a second chance at life, a chance for comfort, stability, and dignity in the time she has left.

If you’ve ever wondered what saving them at the last moment really looks like, this is it!

Please open your hearts and if you are able, your wallets, and show Peggy some love. Show her that in this last chapter of life, without question, her days will be spent feeling safe and fully loved – unconditionally.
