Welcome Snorkel

This weekend, Paws Give Me Purpose officially welcomed Snorkel into our Sanctuary. Huge shout out of gratitude to our volunteers for picking him up and transporting him to us in Southern New Jersey.

Snorkel is yet another senior dog who found himself wandering the streets, tossed out like a piece of trash. Did he just get too old to be loved? Or maybe because he was severely neglected and needed medical care, or was no longer useful for breeding? Whatever the case, this little 13 year old soul was clearly seen as not deserving of dignity.

Snorkel is a 6 pound French Bulldog/Chihuahua mix who is blind due to corneal scarring, suffers from regenerative anemia, has a heart murmur, lower airway disease and one enlarged lung. His spine is hunched from arthritis, and he is missing many teeth. As if that’s not enough, he has bilateral luxating patellas.

The most heartbreaking part to us is that this sweet boy has absolutely suffered for a very long time, yet even though he is blind, he looks up at us with hope in his eyes.

Above all else, we at Paws Give Me Purpose put quality of life first, and Snorkel most certainly has shown us his desire for life, for love and this second chance. Snorkel’s life matters! He isn’t garbage, and we promise he will never suffer again.

We need donations to help Snorkel and other dogs like him who suffer at the hands of careless, heartless people who treat them like objects that can be simply discarded when they are done with them – so please give.

    1. Hi Kelley,

Thank you so much for reaching out about Snorkel.

Snorkel has decompressed nicely and enjoys spending time with some of the other senior dogs here in Sanctuary.

He is breathing much better since beginning medications and we are hoping that once he is on a regular regimen of supplements his walking will improve as well.

He is not a candidate for surgery due to his age and medical conditions, so we will not be able to have him neutered.

  1. Welcome Snorkel. So it doesn’t look like he is up for adoption. I have one blind baby too. I will definitely try and send some money his way. Thank you so much for taking him in.

    1. Paws Give Me Purpose is a sanctuary for senior, special needs, hospice, difficult to adopt dogs.

Snorkel is one of our Sanctuary residents – Paws Give Me Purpose is his home.

We do not handle adoptions. When dogs come to us we are contracted to provide sanctuary for the rest of their lives.
