Featured Dog Friday

For most dogs, being surrendered to a shelter is a drastic change and a stressful experience. It is the place where dogs are confined, separated from the family they gave all their love and loyalty to, and exposed to loud noises due to the close proximity of other dogs. This type of environmental change is very stressful.

The dogs in shelters spend far too much of their time alone and many are sadly overlooked and forgotten. Their lives are stressful and frustrating; even the best shelters are loud, chaotic, and frightening places for the animals who live there. Ignoring the effects of shelter life on the well-being, health, and behavior of the dogs is a great injustice.

Meet Ronnie, this handsome boy came into the Babylon Animal Shelter as a stray; he was sad, confused, and frightened. Thankfully, within a short time, his sweet personality emerged and he began to give kisses and snuggles.

We have a very hard time understanding why people bring dogs into their lives only to dump them in the shelter or release them out to the streets when they don’t want them anymore. A dog is not disposable! Have we as human beings lost our ability to care?

Sadly the stress of the kennel is very hard on sweet Ronnie and he needs out now!

URGENT FOSTER OR ADOPTER NEEDED

Ronnie is 8-10 years young and about 70 pounds. He loves people, including children. He would do best in a quiet dog experienced home with children 10 years and up. He gets along well with other calm dogs – meet and greet is required at the shelter.

It’s heartbreaking to see any dog in a shelter, but seeing a senior dog looking up at you from their kennel is even more crushing because you know their chances of being adopted are low. Adopting a senior dog and giving them a second chance to live their golden years in the comfort of a loving home is priceless. Some things just get better with age, and there is no exception when it comes to senior dogs. In spite of their age, or maybe because of it, they are very special.

Ronnie is an energetic boy who is looking for nothing more than a warm place to call home and a loving family to call his own. In return, he will give you loyalty and more love than you can imagine. He is super affectionate, walks like a gentleman on leash, knows his commands and enjoys playing in the yard. All he asks for are the simple things in life, to be loved, a soft bed to lay his head, kick off his leash, relax his paws, and snuggle in to a warm cozy bed while watching your favorite TV show or just a quiet moment gazing at the stars.

Ronnie deserves a chance to live out his later years in a loving environment with the kind of companionship and care that can’t be found in a busy, noisy, stressful shelter. Yet it’s in these shelters that senior dogs too often spend weeks, months, or even the rest of their lives while they wait for a potential adopter. Let’s not allow this to happen to Ronnie!

Ronnie needs his special human NOW! Won’t you please open your heart to foster or adopt this adorable boy and give him the chance he truly deserves? At the very least, we ask that you please share Ronnie’s story far and wide. We know that there is someone out there who is just searching for a wonderful boy like him to complete their family.

If you give your love to a senior dog like Ronnie, you can be sure he will devote the rest of his life to loving you back. Please go meet him, we guarantee you’ll fall in love!

Will you be the one to make Ronnie’s wish come true?
