Featured Dog Friday

Although it may sound like a sad experience, becoming a hospice foster or adopter will truly bring joy into your home! In fact, many people become repeat hospice providers due to the profound rewards. Animals are truly resilient and though their time with you may be short, to them it is a lifetime of love.

Hospice fostering or adopting provides a home and care for an animal who, through no fault of their own, finds themselves in a shelter or other desperate situation, without a family in their most urgent time.

To us here at Paws Give Me Purpose, these dogs are heroes, lliving their lives to the fullest of their ability without complaint, with grace and acceptance. The heartbreak of rescue but the driving force for us also.

This week we are re-featuring handsome Bahama. His situation is urgent – we need an immediate hospice foster or adopter. This beautiful Senior soul is not doing well; he is extremely stressed. Let’s not allow him to spend the rest of his life behind shelter walls.

Handsome Bahama was originally surrendered to the Town of Babylon Animal Shelter in March of this year. He came in with 10 other dogs, and spent his entire life being used as a breeder stud.

Bahama is a well behaved, 12-year-old boy who is simply looking for a quiet place to live out his days where he will be loved and cherished as she should have been his entire life.

He loves to go on walks, play and lay in the sun; he does get tired easily and he is a little shy meeting new people. Once Bahama gets to know you, he is very sweet and affectionate.

Bahama is dog selective and does not like cats. The shelter is recommending households with children ages 10 and up, and a meet and greet is required at the shelter for the entire family including your dog if you have one to be sure it’s a good match.

As for his health issues, Bahama suffers with a grade 4 heart murmur, kidney disease/beginning of kidney failure. He is currently eating a special diet and takes medications to manage these conditions.

Every animal who lives their final days in a shelter instead of in a warm home is denied the gentle, loving dignity they so deeply deserve – and it is beyond heartbreaking.

Don’t shy from taking a senior or hospice dog. They live for the moment and you can make a terrible beginning an amazing ending. Can it be heartbreaking? Absolutely! So why do it? The rewards are endless and each day with Bahama will be a gift. He is a special dog who asks for nothing, but will give everything he has.

No love is deeper and more meaningful than the love of a pet for the human who saves them, this is the kind of love that will change you forever!

Please open your heart, Bahama needs a foster or adopter now! There is no time to waste. If you are not in the position to bring him home, we ask that you please share, Bahama, needs a miracle!
