Marvelous Monday

One of our newest Sanctuary residents, Sherman, is popping in on this marvelous Monday to say hello and show off how handsome he looks in his purple fleece hoodie!

Due to Sherman’s extreme neglect he barely has any hair, his body gets a little chilly and he feels much more comfortable wearing something to keep him warm. He has a great appetite and takes his meds like a champ! We are hoping he will gain some much needed weight and with proper nutrition plus some supplements he will be able to regrow some hair.

Beautiful souls like Sherman depend on Paws Give Me Purpose to give them the home and love that they need and deserve. In return, they give us priceless gifts — love, friendship, and loyalty.

No matter how long they are with us, every dog that walks through our doors is treated with excellent care, compassion and love. We are making sure that Sherman is truly enjoying his golden years to the fullest and is spoiled as he should be.

This is what we do here at Paws Give Me Purpose.

Welcome Mr. Peabody And Sherman

Today we would like to introduce you to 2 of our newest Sanctuary residents, Mr. Peabody (left) and Sherman (right)!

Both of these precious seniors have suffered horrible neglect, found themselves abandoned, then sat heartbroken behind shelter walls wondering what they did wrong to deserve this.

These tiny, fragile boys are from 2 different shelters; when we were alerted of their dire need for help we could not say no. They have been through so much pain physically and mentally. We could not let these boys down; they deserve a second chance to have the lives they should have had all along. They most certainly did not deserve to die.

Interestingly enough, they both realized how much they need each other and have bonded, becoming close friends here at the Sanctuary – a dynamic that is truly beautiful to observe.

Mr. Peabody and Sherman have both received the urgent, necessary medical care and we will continue to make sure they receive the very best Vet care possible; we never settle for substandard care.

Our promise is to provide them both with a safe and loving environment for the rest of their lives no matter how long they are with us, and we are committed to keeping this promise.

With the difficult medical cases that have recently walked through our doors, your support is critical. Our Vet bills are enormous and our bank account depleted.

Taking care of all of our Sanctuary residents is our top priority, we need your help now more than ever!

Remembering Hershey

Even though we knew his time with us would be very short, our promise to Hershey was to provide him with a safe and loving environment for the rest of his life, and we kept that promise.

Little Hershey passed on his own terms, peacefully in his sleep – and our hearts are broken once again.

Hershey arrived at Paws Give Me Purpose Sanctuary back in January after having been found on the city streets of Staten Island, he ended up behind shelter walls. He was technically categorized as a hospice case and needed a place to live out the remainder of his days, so we answered the plea for help – his life mattered!

Hershey was 15+ years old and suffered from medical issues including failing back legs. You would have never known that he wasn’t 100% healthy as nothing seemed to bother him.

Just like the great American chocolate bar, little Hershey was sweet as can be; he most certainly did not deserve the severe neglect and abandonment that he received. We did our best to make things better.

This tiny senior soul was a bright light here at our Sanctuary; he made friends easily, enjoying both the company of humans and the other tiny dogs. Most of his time however was spent with his little girl friend Tiny Tina – he fell head over heals the moment they met and never left her side. They quickly became the new “it couple” here at our Sanctuary and watching them together gave us many awww moments – moments of forever, moments we will never forget.

Aside from cuddling his precious Tina, Hershey enjoyed laying in human laps, relaxing in the sun, receiving affection, returning kisses and truly enjoyed every snack and morsel of food we served. You could tell just by his sheer excitement to receive a meal or treat that he did not have these opportunities before – he savored every bite, and in true Chi fashion no other dog was allowed near. There was no denying him anything, he was spoiled as much as possible and he seemed to really know he had been given a second chance, and readily showed his gratitude.

Despite facing health challenges, his happy spirit never wavered; he touched our lives briefly but profoundly. Although he would get a bit testy at times with us humans, he was pure love and just wanted to be close to those he loved. His small but mighty Chi presence will be dearly missed.

You will always live on in our hearts Hershey, we were blessed to have known and been able to love you with our whole hearts!

Thank you to all of our followers and supporters for caring; for we know you grieve with us too. Thank you also for being a support to us during this difficult time.
